He was almost frightened out of his wits, but he had enough presence of mind to stammer out, “Good sir, if you you’d be so kind, pray help me up with my burden again.”他便將擔子放在地上，請求逝世神快點來，讓他盡快解脫這個苦楚的性命，更令他沮喪的是，還沒等話說出口，逝世神便站在他面前，聲稱已經預備好為他服務了。老人幾乎嚇呆了，但卻堅持著鎮靜鎮定，結結巴巴地說：“好人呀，你行行好，幫忙把那擔子再放到我的肩上吧。”
